In angel investing, we learn as much as the entrepreneurs we invest in. When we do it right, we even learn more. This story, is about how the Lagos Angel Network (LAN) invested in Big Cabal Media (BCM) which became an invaluable learning experience for all involved.

About Me — Tomi Davies (aka TD!)
I am a Tech Strategist by profession, Consultant, Mentor, Advisor, Public Speaker and Angel Investor. I am the Collaborator-in-Chief at TechnoVision’s TVC Labs which I founded in 1999. I am a co-founder of the Lagos Angel Network (LAN), founding President of the African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and sit on the board of the Global Business Angels Network (GBAN).
I am a Non-Executive Director at MBO Capital (Private Equity), Big Cabal Media (Media & Entertainment) who this story is about and Chairman of the Board at Powerstove (Cleantech). I am also a member of the Lagos State Science, Research & Innovation Council (LASRIC) and co-founder of Laptops4Learning (L4L) Nigeria a technology-enabled learning NGO.
I believe that Africa’s future is being built today in African cities by entrepreneurs with business ventures using innovation and technology to create social and economic value. As a Business Angel I am helping drive their development of Africa through entrepreneurship support organisations such as business angel groups and innovation hubs while nurturing a growing portfolio of tech-enabled startups originating from Africa.
My personal mission is to “find, get funded then follow great African founders as they innovatively use technology to commercially drive positive social impact across the continent and build us all a better future.”
